I see the occasional "Hi, I'm a tourist coming to town, where should I go?" thread, and that's all well and good.

But I find that even after living here for 38 years, there are still places I have yet to visit that I feel I should. Maybe is same for you?

So here's the question I put to you, my fellow Boston residents: Where do you like to spend your time when you're not at home? And please, be honest, this is for posterity.

*edit - hey, and if you're looking for something in particular, such as a really good place for chilling and reading, or peshwari naan etc., why not ask here?

Hi guys--

I moved to Salem last year with my wife, and I commute into Somerville for my job. I've noticed that despite the fact that Friday morning traffic into the city (I go down 93) is the lightest of the week, leaving at night on that day is the absolute worst.

How is this possible? Where are the extra drivers coming from, if they didn't go in with me? Is this all just people leaving the city for the weekend? Just curious!

Hi! I am 22/F full time engineer who has an 1100 sq ft 2BR apartment in Peabody with a lease that starts Feb 18. I am clean, respectful, easy going and like to have fun! I don't smoke and want a smoke free apartment, but I am a social drinker (on the weekends). The rent would be 760 a month per person not including utils, but if need be that could be negotiable if the fit is right! 420 Broadway in Revere,Ma. has been a taxi stand literally since the car was invented and prior to that it had been used as a Livery stable. The last cab company to occupy the property went under and since then myself and other taxi companies have made several attempts to rent/buy the property from the MBTA real estate division.All my efforts have been ignored. I'm not saying I can pay enough to bail them out but, every little bit helps right?

The video: Guy is out with girl night at a loud bar. Girl says "don't forget about tomorrow morning." Guy nods. Loud party ensues... ends up at his apartment. Obvious craziness. Cut to guy waking up passed out on couch with beer cans all over coffee table. Apartment buzzer buzzes. Guy answers groggily: "hello?" Girl with parents respond: "Hey Joe, it's me and my parents here for brunch! Let us up!" "Hi Joe, Can't wait to meet you!"-dad "Joe, we've heard a lot about you!!"-mom. Guy is fucked. The next few cuts are between him sweeping beer cans into trashbag, using morning head, cursing, kicking a funnel into a closet and getting ready in a matter of seconds interwoven with shots of the girl and her parents coming up the stairs to his apartment. When the door opens he looks like a million bucks: "Heyyy! Who wants coffee!"

Then there are two possible endings that we will shoot. You'll have to vote this to the front page if you want to hear!!! :)

I have money for the film equipment now because of the kickstarter success (thanks to reddit). It'll be a quick shoot, and here's what I would need:

Guy - Aged 21-27 Girl - Aged 21-27 Two parents (male + female aged 45-60)

I'm not sure if/how much I could pay you at this point, but I can almost guarantee that this will go viral. It will be shot in full HD with a very nice DSLR camera. It will look super professional, and it could be good exposure for budding actors or filmmakers. Don't worry about the low-quality of my kickstarter video... that was shot on a FlipHD and was shot and edited in a total of 4 hours. This will be much more involved in post production. Let me know if anyone is interested. Thanks so much!

(We may not end of filming this weekend, but it would be good to secure the cast).

Here is the long and short of the situation: I have a job offer in Austin, TX which in this economy I really can't afford to pass up. My lease is until the end of August. 01/28/12--08:39: I know this isn't in Boston, but I need some help. (chan 1749778)

I'm from East Bridgewater (right next to Brockton and Whitman (home of the chocolate chip cookie!)) but currently I go to school in Alabama (they're paying for me, what?). I take American Sign Language, and there's a deaf man who I work with weekly on my signing skills.

When he was little, he was adopted from Fall River, but he remembers the street where he lived. Can anyone help me find it? OR direct me to the subreddit?

There's a river, and on either side a road. One of the roads has angled parking on either side of the street and a bank of tall thin "Houses" as he called them, but they may be apartment buildings. Also, the street lights are the old kind that have a glass dome kind of thing directly on top of a straight pole. In the winter, the kids used to skate on the water.

I'm looking for good coffee shops, shared working spaces, etc. Camping out at Panera or Starbucks just doesn't appeal to me much.

There was a great thread a day or two about places to go in Boston, but it mostly featured restaurants or couple/group activities. So what are the best spots for a little solitude and/or productivity?

01/28/12--12:15: What should go in a welcome to Cambridge gift basket? (chan 1749778)

I have a family member moving to North Cambridge from out of the country, and I'd like to put together a little welcome kit for them. I've thought of putting in a Charlie Card, some Taza chocolate, a Cambridge street and bicycle map, recycling schedule, etc. What are some good Cambridge/Somerville/Boston items to put in that I can pick up for not too much? Any free items I could pick up that would make moving to a new city a little easier for them?
